Diary of a Would-be Princess, by Jessica Green

This book is about a girl in fifth grade. To me her class sounded kind of immature, but that is just my opinion. I guess the book was okay but i have read better books. By fifth grade in my experience cooties don't exist but at her school they do. One cool thing though is that the author lives in Australia so she used lots of Australian terms. Don't worry if you get to stumped there is a Glossary.

The Calder Game, by Blue Balliet

This book is phenomenal just like the rest of Blue Balliet's books(Chasing Vermeer and The Wright Three). Calder(one of the main characters) travels to England with his father and mysteriously disappears at the same time as an Alexander Calder sculpture. Is there a connection?? Then his two friends come to England to help look for him. After four days he is found in a rock room behind a waterfall. He is still alive but unconscious and very weak. He recovers and tells his tale of wonder. And you are probably wondering how he came to be in the rock room? Well, you will just have to read the book and find out won't you?

The Goose Girl, by Shannon Hale

The Goose Girl is a very good book. Shannon Hale has taken

Grimms' original fairy tale and polished it anew. It is very well

written and full of adventure and suspense. There are evil

ladies-in-waiting and heartless queens, along with kind, forest-

born friends who help the main character through tough times.

The main character, Anidori-Kiladra, was born in an imanginary

land called Kilendree. She is betrothed to the Prince of Bayern,

Kilendree's neighboring land. This is the story of her journey. It

is full of suspense, cherished friendship, love, betrayal, and

much, much more! I strongly recommend this book to readers of

all ages. It is a timeless classic to be read over and over again. It

is also a great classroom book and can easily be discussed by

peers. Hale's Goose Girl is an excellent read and I strongly

recommend it.

Psyche in a Dress, by Francesca Lia Block

This is the weirdest book I've read all summer. The plot line isn't very strong and the characters and setting aren't clear. The craftmanship is beautiful. Half the book is in poetry. Psyche falls in love with the god of love then he leaves and she spends her life being a bunch of different people and doing things like working for Aphrodite that she thinks might be payment and get her back her lover. To find out the end to this weird story you have to read the book.

Just Another Day In My Insanely Real Life, Barbara Dee

It's been a few days since I finished this book and I've been reading a lot since but what I remember of this book was great.
Cassie is an aspiring writer but her lazy sister, her brother's problems with reading, and her dad being gone make it hard for her to keep going. On top of all that her friends turn nasty because her family is having financial trouble. When her teacher assigns a journal she starts a novel, but when she doesn't get any comment on her work she gives it up and starts to write stuff that doesn't matter to her as much. She feels like she is the only one doing anything about any thing at hom and she feels like her teacher does not appreciate her talent. Cassie finally ends up finding a friend in someone her old friends made fun of and finding out that her teacher isn't so bad after all. Her dad comes home and everything turns out fine.
I loved it but if you don't like overly happy endings you probably won't.

On Thin Ice, by Jamie Bastedo

This book, On thin Ice, is a good one. It has a lot of thrill and
adventure in it. It is based in Alaska, far north. It talks a lot about
Inuit culture, which is very interesting. I recommend this book for
anyone who enjoys spiritual adventure stories. Also, if you have
read this book and liked it, you should read another book called
White Darkness by Geraldine McCaughrean. It is also an adventure
book based on the tundra. On Thin Ice is a good book, but I have
read better ones. Even though it is not exceptionally brilliant, I
recommend it for teen adventure fans.

The Titan's Curse, by Rick Riordan

This book was very good. The thing about sequels never being as good as the origanal does not apply here. The adventure keeps you hooked from the very first page.
When Percy and his friends try to bring two halfbloods to camp they are attacked by a monster who talks about a mysterious 'General' and a monster that will destroy Olympus. They are rescued by the goddess Artemis and her hunters but Annabeth falls off the side of a cliff. Artemis leaves to track the monster and the group arrives safely at camp. They find out that Artemis is in trouble and go on a quest that the Oracle says two will die on. Thalia, Percy, Grover, and two of the hunters go across country to save Artemis and Annabeth from Luke and the forces of the titan lord Kronos. One of the hunters is killed in Arizona by a giant robot, but the group continues on. They are chased by skeletons and finally find out that the monster has been following them all along. The monster's power is that the one who kills it and burns it's entrails will have the power to destroy the gods. Grover takes the monster back to camp so it is up to the other three to rescue Artemis. The other hunter is killed and Artemis and Annabeth is rescued. Thalia joins the hunters so she will not turn sixteen, because there is a prophecy that the next child of Hades, Zues or Posiden to turn sixteen will either save or destroy Olympus. Thalia is a daughter of Zues. This means that the prophecy is probably about Percy.
This is a great book and I can't wait to read the sequel.

The Secret of Red Gate Farm, by Carolyn Keene

This is a good book. It is the sixth book in the Nancy Drew book
series. I have read a lot of the Nancy Drew books, and I must say
that this one was intriguing, although not one of the best. If you
haven't read any Nancy Drew books, they are about an 18 year
old girl detective and her friends as they solve mysteries. I think
that this one was good, although the mystery was very easy to
figure out and it didn't take me long to find out "who-done-it". I
recommend this book for anyone who loves a good adventure
story. It incorporates rural country life with counterfeit
criminals. It is definitely a good read and I recommend it for all
adventure story lovers. :)

Peter and the Secret of Rundoon, by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson

This book, Peter and the Secret of Rundoon, is a very good read.
Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson have taken the original story of
Peter Pan and brushed it up, making everything make sense.
This is the last book in the "Peter and the Starcatchers" trilogy,
and if you haven't read this series, I highly recommend it. It
gives a new view to the old Disney classic, showing how Peter
became who he was, why he flew, all the while incorporated into
a gripping plot line. The first two books in the series, Peter and
the Starcatchers and Peter and the Shadow Thieves, are very
good reads and I recommend the whole trilogy to anyone who
enjoys a good gripping adventure story. In this story, you will
find yourself traveling to the exotic Middle East, while witnessing
flying camels and giant snakes. While keeping the whole
"Neverland" feel, it also makes the whole story make sense by
using an imaginative force, called Starstuff, thought up by the
authors that controls the supernatural happenings on the Island,
known as "Neverland" to the many Disney classics' fans.
Although this book is a twist on the original story, I would have
to say it is much, much better and an excellent read. :)

Gossamer, by Lois Lowry

Have you ever read a book where there are both imaginary characters and humans? In Gossamer, Lois Lowry does a great job of connecting them together. This book gives the history of where dreams and nightmares come from(written in a fictional sense). I think this is a great book, and I would recommend this to readers who like to think about "what happens when you ________?", and "what are the histories of this?". But if you don't like books like that, Lowry has written many other great books like The Giver, Gathering Blue, Messenger, and many others.

The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan

This book is a lot like the Harry Potter series but better. Percy Jackson, the main character has had a strange 12 years. When he starts to get attacked by monsters his mom takes him to Camp Half Blood. There he finds out that he is a son of Posiden. When Zeus accuses him of stealing the world's most powerful weapon he sets off on a quest with his friends Grover and Annabeth. They travel across the country to L.A. fighting monsters. When they reach L.A. they venture into the Underworld only to find that they have been tricked. They return the weapon and figure out that Hades was not to blame. Kronos, the Titan lord had convinced Luke, someone Percy thought was his friend to steal the weapon.
I liked this book a lot. There is a lot more action and adventure than some other books with the same basic story line. You see the story through Percy's eyes and you get scared. The writing is that good. The detail is fantastic. This and The Sea Of Monsters are both must reads.

This is an intriguing story about a young boy, a silver dragon, and their struggle against the forces of evil. Evil takes its shape in the form of Nettlebrand, the Golden one, who was formed out of a philosopher's experiment gone wrong. Nettlebrand is an imitation of a dragon but is actually a dragon hunter seeking to destroy all remaining dragons on earth. As legend has it, the dragon rider from eons past would be reincarnated in the form of a small boy. The "small boy" will go through many adventures as he tries to find a haven for dragons on earth. The epic struggle between Nettlebrand and the dragon rider holds you in an iron grip of action and reinstates values of honesty and compassion in the reader.
