Santiago has had a reccurring dream about leaving his simple life as a shepherd and traveling to Egypt's pyramids, where he digs in a certain spot for treasure. A dream interpreter tells him to go and see what he finds, and what the treasure might be. It seems like a foolish dream, until the day he finds himself setting out on an adventure that will change his life and the way he thinks.This story was amazing. The writing is simple and elegant, with a steady, slow-moving plot that will cause you to lose track of time as you are drawn into Santiago's adventures, wanderings and discoveries about himself. The story is very introverted and personal, fans of drama and action will need to look elsewhere. The characters, even the ones we barely know, feel so solid and realistic that it is hard to picture that they are mere figments of the author's imagination.
