World War II is going on and on the island of Hawaii, the Americans don't know which Japanese to trust. Eddy Okubo, a 16 year old Japanese boy has two friends in the U.S. Army and he also wants to join. He joins but doesn't get to fight yet. He and some other members of his battalion go to the Mississippi to train attack dogs to smell the Japanese soldiers. The Army believes that the Japanese have a different scent than Americans, but this program doesn't work.
