I thoroughly enjoyed reading Flygirl. It was one of those books that makes you really think about how you live in relation to how the characters lived. Flygirl is about a black girl in the 1940's named Ida Mae Jones. Ida Mae Jones had wanted to fly ever since her father bought a plane and brought it to their small home in Alabama. After her father died, she felt that more than ever she had to be up in the air to feel the connection with her father. So when the paper prints an ad for the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP), she sees her chance to fly. This book was amazing, and while reading it I laughed, smiled, worriedly chewed my fingernails, and even cried a bit. Talk about epic.
